We all know that Cherrapunji in Meghalaya receives the highest amount of rainfall and still holds the all-time record for the most rainfall in a calendar month and in a year. But there are other places also which is giving it competition in this.
Recently, it was found that Tamhini Ghat And Mahabelshwar receives the highest amount of rainfall. Mahabaleshwar has recorded 5486 mm of rainfall since June 1 while Tamhini Ghat has received more 5959 mm of rain. Cherrapunji’s record during the same time is 5346 mm of rain.

Tamhini Ghat
Tamhini Ghat is located in Maharashtra and is a mountain passage located between Mulshi and Tamhini. Situated on the crest of the Western Ghat mountain ranges, Tamhini Ghat is noted for its surroundings comprising scenic waterfalls, lakes and dense woods. The best time to visit is August and September.
The entire stretch becomes a popular destination during the monsoons. During the rainy season, the place transforms into a green bed with lots of waterfalls and small streams. There are state buses which ply through the ghat connecting Pune city with places on the Goa highway.

Mahabaleshwar
Mahabaleshwar is a hill station in forested Western Ghats range, south of Mumbai. It features several elevated viewing points, such as Arthur’s Seat. West of here is centuries-old Pratapgad Fort, perched atop a mountain spur. East, Lingmala Waterfall tumbles off a sheer cliff. Colorful boats dot Venna Lake, while 5 rivers meet at Panch Ganga Temple to the north.
Nestled amongst the five hills of Sahyadri Mountain ranges, the place has hypnotizing beauty to its credit. It is famous for its scenic beauty and strawberry farms. Some of the famous tourist attractions of Mahabaleshwar include Panchgani, Tapola and Pratapgad Fort.
