The Indian Railways will soon be introducing Vande Bharat Express train on the route between Delhi and Katra. It will be a big relief for the pilgrims going to Vaishno Devi.
As per the report, the decision was taken recently and is expected to begin soon. Pilgrims can cover the distance in just eight hours. However, currently, it takes between 10 and 12 hours to reach Katra by train from Delhi.
The train will leave New Delhi station at 6 AM and will reach Ambala at 0810hrs where it will halt for two minutes before leaving for Ludhiana where it will reach 0922hrs. The stoppage here too would be for two minutes. It would then make way for Jammu Tawi and reach 1240hrs and eventually reach Katra at 1400hrs.
The Vande Bharat Express was successfully launched in 2018 to run from New Delhi to Varanasi. The train has been manufactured overseas at a cost of Rs 100 crores. Although its tickets are a tad highly-priced, it offers speedy service, good meals on board, 180-degree rotating chair car, Wi-Fi and other modern features.
